So You Can Learn The New Science Of Love
This is an official Externship, endorsed by the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) and brought to you by TRI EFT Alliant and Alliant International University.
Attending this externship is the first step to being listed at the EFT website, where couples are going to find trained couple therapists. Attending this externship is also a step towards becoming a certified EFT therapist. For further details about the certification process please refer to Susan Johnson’s International Centre for Excellence in EFT (ICEEFT). In this Externship, you will learn to:
• see marital distress from an attachment perspective
• help partners reprocess the emotional responses that maintain marital distress
• shape key new interaction and bonding events and,
• overcome therapeutic impasses.
You will also see live consultation sessions with a couple, a profound learning experience.

Sue Johnson is Director of the International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy and Distinguished Research Professor at Alliant University in San Diego, California as well as Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa, Canada. She has received numerous honors for her work, including the Outstanding Contribution to the Field of Couple and Family Therapy Award from the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and the Research in Family Therapy Award from the American Family Therapy Academy. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association. Dr Johnson’s best known professional books include, The Practice of Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy: Creating Connection (2004), Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy with Trauma Survivors (2002), and Becoming an Emotionally Focused Couple Therapist: The Workbook (2005). She also has a popular press book,Hold Me Tight: Seven Conversations for a Lifetime of Love. She trains counselors in EFT worldwide and consults to Veterans Affairs, the U.S. and Canadian military and New York City Fire Department.

Rebecca Jorgensen, PhD, Certified EFT Trainer
Director and Consultant
Dr. Jorgensen did her training in Emotionally Focused Therapy with Dr. Sue Johnson. With years of experience as an EFT Trainer, and years of university teaching prior to that, Becca is one of a small group of endorsed trainers that travels internationally to help therapists discover the power of using EFT. Becca is currently Co-Founder and Director at the Training and Research Institute the San Diego Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy. Dr. Jorgensen holds the Licenses of Mental Health Counselor is a Certified Supervisor. She maintains a clinical practice in conjunction with her passion for advancing education and training in Emotionally Focused Therapy. Having specialized training in online eduction she is the team’s technology expert. You will often find her doing webcasts, webinars and hanging out on various virtual platforms. Scott R. Woolley, PhD, Certified EFT Trainer
Author and Director
Scott R. Woolley, PhD is a Professor in the MFT Masters and Doctoral Programs in the California School of Professional Psychology at Alliant International University. He is the Executive Director of the Training and Research Institute for Emotionally Focused Therapy and a founder and director of the San Diego Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy. He also maintains a private practice focused on EFT couples therapy.
Dr. Woolley has trained therapists in EFT in many areas of the world, including Canada, Chili, Finland, Guam, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, England, Taiwan, and throughout the U.S. He has co-published, co-presented, and co-trained with Dr. Susan Johnson, founder of EFT.
